Snap Your Best San Leandro!

September 18, 2019 

The City of San Leandro invites residents to participate in “Snap Your Best San Leandro,” a photo contest where applicants have the opportunity to publicly showcase their photography skills by submitting photographs taken within San Leandro!

The photo contest aims to celebrate life in San Leandro in three categories, including: environment, architecture, and culture & community.

SUBMIT PHOTOS BY OCTOBER 1, 2019!

New Open Data Sets Available!

The City has just released open data sets and online maps for its Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and “SL-WiFiber” free Wi-Fi locations. You can access these interactive maps at: www.geosl.org.

Baby Time: Rhymes, songs and books for pre-walkers ages 0 to 12 months

*space is limited to 15 families
Enjoy focused time with your baby (pre-walkers ages 0 to 12 months) during this short session. We’ll sing songs in English and Spanish, learn easy movement activities, and explore board books, followed by time to play/bond with your baby and talk with other parents and caregivers. If you have a baby and a toddler/preschooler, please attend our toddler storytime or preschool storytime instead.

We offer duplicate sessions at 9:30am and 10:30am, so please choose just one to attend. This storytime takes place in the ESTUDILLO ROOM of the Main Library

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Stories, songs and play for preschoolers (and up)

Designed for children ages 3-6, our preschool storytime features longer picture books, plus plenty of flannel boards, puppets and songs. We explore a different theme each week with books and crafts to help with emerging literacy and fine motor skills, followed by a play time.

This program takes place in the ESTUDILLO ROOM at the Main Library.

5:15 PMPooch Pool Party

Our annual pooch pool party is taking place! Make sure you sign up for courses #14908 and #14909 with the Recreation & Human Services Department to pre-register and partake in the event. Cost is $3 if you pre-register; $5 at the door. Reminder that humans will not be permitted in the water.

6:30 PMArts Commission Meeting

The Arts Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding policies related to the development, promotion and placement of visual and performing arts that is of the highest quality, visually stimulating, of enduring value and will culturally enrich the San Leandro community; works cooperatively with public and privates agencies to increase opportunity and awareness of and procure space for public art; and makes recommendations to the City Council on the acceptance of donations and submission of art and other matters of arts and culture in the community. The Commission is comprised of 1 member representing each district and 3 at large members.

Interested persons should have expertise or knowledge of public art programs as well as visual and/or performing arts, a desire to enhance the San Leandro community culturally through art, and the ability to interact positively with others.

7:00 PMHuman Services Commission
The Human Services Commission (HSC) identifies social needs in the community and recommends to the City Council possible ways to meet those needs, evaluates and encourages the provision of social services in the City, assists social services agencies with fundraising, and reviews requests for City financial support to social service agencies. The HSC has nine members who serve four-year terms. The HSC meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Sister Cities Gallery at City Hall.
7:00 PMFamily Fun Night: Ka-Hon Ensemble (Main Library)

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, enjoy a music show with Ka-Hon Latin Percussion Ensemble, who will share rhythms from around the world that can be played with a simple wooden box. All ages welcome. Doors open at 6:50pm, and the show begins at 7:00pm. Questions? Please call 510-577-3960.
